My father’s name is Holt. His family line came from Germany and was part of Germania in Virginia. My ggggggrandfather, Michael Holt – along with two other immigrants – returned to Germany for a time to collect funds for a church that still stands – Hebron Lutheran Church, Madison County, VA.

With help from AI, found several more coats of arms for the various branch’s plus married bloodlines reaching Edward I, Joan of Acre (not Arc) through to the Holy Roman Empire Frederick Barbarossa clear back to Charlemagne. On the Holt paternal line Hugo de Holt is the earliest recorded but he likely came from the indigenous pre Norman conquest, Picts.

Re The Squirrel & Holt connections

A branch of my Hollingworth family hold quartered arms. Part of this shows three squirrels on white background with a black band. I wonder if there is any connection?

Catherine Holt was my 14th Great Grand Mother. She was born in Ashworth, Lancashire. Do you have any further information on these Holts?

My Mother & Uncle were Holts, from North Lincs, UK. I’m currently researching the family tree. My grandfather (Charles Frederick Holt) born 1908 and his brother, Harry, born 1910 were brought up by their maternal grandparents following their father’s death at Ypres in 1915 and their mothers death in 1919 (possibly Flu)
