I think a lot about martyrs. I don’t think our culture understands the divine courage it takes to die for the truth. We only seem to understand when our “rights” are being violated. And to suffer phyiscal pain inflicted by other people and to still hold your faith – that’s amazing to me.<\/p>\n
And then I think of what Jesus said – that “people will hate you because of me.” Does anyone hate me because of him? Not really – and that seems to mean I’m not doing my job. That’s depressing. People probably hate me, but not for that reason. They probably hate me for the wrong reasons – because I can be a jerk.<\/p>\n
On our links page, there’s a link to the book of martyrs – a historical book that tells about those who dared to die, sometimes suffering great pain in the process. It’s depressing as well – humans have such a capacity for evil.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
