We paid off our mortgage a few months ago, the bank just got around to sending us the documentation to prove it. Apparently this document cost $75 to make and file with the town, which they applied to our mortgage balance. But whatever, it’s paid off and we’re glad!
I love how they put it on the document, “KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS”. I’m not even completely clear what that means, I think “presents” should be singular?
Also, it’s interesting how a mortgage is referred to as “indenture”. Debt really is indentured servitude, and it’s a form of slavery… credit cards, student loans, mortgages… America is supposedly very wealthy and yet many of us have a negative net worth!
Anyway, I’m really thankful and blessed to be out of debt. We don’t have much, but we are above zero!
