I ordered a new imac! Yes, I had Jill’s approval. I got to see one in action last night at the Cooper’s – they had me over for a yummy dinner and guitar lesson. They have the same one. You can see what it looks like here. I got the 20-inch version. I expect my neck will get sore due to looking back and forth on it. It’s twice as fast and three times the amount of RAM I currently have. My last computer purchase was three years ago.
We got an education discount because of Jill, and it came with a free ipod mini. I’m wondering what to do with it, since we already have one. Maybe I’ll make it a present to someone near and dear to me 🙂 Maybe I’ll do an essay contest. Yeah, that’s it. The best 1000 word essay on “Why Macs are Near and Dear to My Heart” will be seriously considered for a free ipod mini!
If you don’t like that topic, maybe I’ll also accept “Steve Jobs is a Hottie”. Be sure to mention his typical Keynote attire.
Now I need to move all my stuff around in preparation. Back up the SQL server, move config files for Apache, create user accounts for FTP, do backups, move music collection, etc. This kind of stuff is what geeks live for.
