We just finished playing a fun game of Settlers of Catan! Ben, Kerris, and I – and Kerris the first timer was champion! Ben and I also had some fun sledding today 🙂 and this coming weekend I am going to try snoeshoeing for the first time! Got any snoeshoeing tips for me?
Simon – have you ever read “To Build a Fire”? It’s a short story about a guy who freezes to death in the artic. I read it to Jill recently because it was so cold. Anyway he gets his feet wet and that’s why he freezes, just thought of that.
Snowshoeing is lots of fun, my tips are these: If the snow is deep and your in the woods etc pretty far, I recommend carrying a walking stick to prod at any suspicious patches of ground; in the past I have fallen into a small creekbed that was running still under the snow and was hidden by thin snow above it, getting my feet wet in the cold out in the woods was not fun, and had I been very far from the house etc it could have been dangerous. Anyway thats probably it.
ooh! We went snowshoeing last winter! It was a ton of fun. But my snowshoes kept falling off, so I swapped them for my skiis! Peter’s stayed on and he had a great time 🙂 Have fun!
