NYC – There and Back Again

Blessed with a little trip to CT and NYC this week! We drove down to Connecticut with our dear Miss Deb and stayed over at a hotel in Preston, just outside the towers of Mordor, I mean, Foxwoods. Then we left early for a trip into NYC for the day! I had never been, so it was fun to hit some sights like Grand Central Station and Central Park and the Morgan Museum.

Train trips are funny. A bunch of adults get quietly into a cramped space and sit silently next to strangers. Until…the 8 year old arrives! Alice had strangers chatting with her and playing guessing games. The guy who guessed “cigarettes” got off at his stop feeling pretty stoked, and our ukulele musician was happy to play “eet, eet, eet, epples and baneenees” with Alice and let her practice her two chords that she knows. The people were delightful. 🙂

The Morgan museum was great. We were especially in love with the hobbit culinary meal and, or course, the J.R.R. Tolkein exhibit.

Checking out the secret hidden stairwell behind the hinged bookcase was a particular thrill! 🙂

Central park was great – mostly we enjoyed the playground, Balto, and the many doggies!

And staying at a hotel with a pool was a brilliant choice, Alice did her first independent swim here!

And now I mustache you…where will these three adventures go next? 😛

I would say the Hobbit-inspired-meal was a special treat, so that was my fave!

  2. Looks like a fun trip. I mustache you: what was your favorite part? The train ride sounds nice.
