I have received three essays! Alas, I did not judge impartially. My best friend Nate was here Friday night for the LAN party and I found out he had been wanting one of these things since forever, always on the cusp of buying one. If you could have seen the look on his face!
Nate DID write an essay, and it’s good, but my mind was pretty much made up before he wrote it. With written and verbal apologies to my other contestants, I gave the ipod to him. Neither of them were mad, but I felt bad about getting their hopes up. I suppose I should be more careful before posting that kind of contest on my site! My only excuse is the wording I used – “…will be seriously considered.” Still, I should have been more careful about posting that.
If I had had the camera, I would have taken pictures of Nate opening the package. It was priceless.
